I am going to be a graduate student at University of Illinois next year and stumbled upon your blog. I am not sure how people are chosen to live at La Casa or if you already have a full house for next year, but if there is going to be space I’d be very interested. I couldn’t find any other contact information for you, so I figured this might work? My e-mail address is eburnsid@andrew.cmu.edu. Thanks!

hey. I had some questions about LaCasa. My biggest one is, how close is your association with Couch. I had a really really bad experience with Phoenix house witch resulted in me leaving and couch claiming money (money that I in fact paid, but somehow dissapeared between my handing it over and it getting to couch. )
I’m interested in giving a CoOp another shot, But I’m worried that my past association with couch will prevent me from moving in.

    Hi,

My name is Lisa Nguyen and I live near downtown Urbana. I recently made a nice chicken coop and had two chickens for egg laying. But a sad fate occurred this past weekend. A critter was able to jimmy the simple latch door to the coop and kill one of my hens. Since then, I placed a lock on the door.

I would like to have a hen mate for my chicken but it looks like there are only chicks you can purchase online. I was wondering if I may purchase one of your hens? I’ve seen/heard about your chicken raising and I know you don’t normally sell your hens, but I was wondering for my case, would you allow me to purchase one so that my other hen is not lonely? I originally received the two hens from someone else who were raising them.

    Thank you for your consideration,
    Lisa

Hi. I am Jorge Garcia, and believe I lived in la Casa in 1978-79. I even have a memory (very possibly inaccurate) that I named the house La Casa Grande Colectiva. I stumbled by pure accident on your site, and am very curious to know if this is indeed my old house. We lived with the twins Jimmy and Bobby R, and the United Mime Workers were always around for dinner.
